WORK
“Recapturing the heart of the Gospel in the Marketplace”

WHAT exactly IS
Faith at Work?
Faith at Work seeks to be a city-wide, non-denominational movement that aims to restore God’s dignity and purpose for work in the Marketplace, dispelling the myth that business people are in “part-time ministry” and in so doing glorify God and advancing His Kingdom here on earth.
Faith@Work seeks to re-establish the God-given dignity and purpose of work, reigniting the passion for cultural change and the expansion of the Kingdom in the everyday work lives of Christians in the marketplace. By understanding our God-given role as Christians in the marketplace and embracing the fact that work and ministry are not mutually exclusive, we can impact the world for Christ in a significant way.
“Can business glorify God? We normally think of worship, faith, evangelism and other “spiritual” activities as glorifying to God, but business? Business seems synonymous with greed and corruption, not something that would imitate a holy God. By engaging in work and business we glorify God because we are emulating God’s own creative work.”

Reaching the Marketplace
Faith at Work seeks to employ a 3 pronged approach to reaching the marketplace and re-establishing the biblical understanding of the proper role of the Gospel in business as it expands the Kingdom of God on earth.
Equip…
- We should be sharing our knowledge and expertise with our fellow Christian business owners to empower them to succeed and in turn be a light to the world around them. We should be humble enough to ask for advice and trust that it will be given in a compassionate and practical way.
- As believers, we should be sharing God’s wisdom, morality, fairness and creativity with the world around us, equipping our staff and customers to live better lives.
Engage…
- As Christians in business we should be a community of believers that support and encourage each other. We should have a place to come and share our frustrations and victories, a place to get prayer, advice and input (both spiritual and practical).
- As God’s image bearers, we should be taking the very image of God to a lost and desperate world. We should be engaging, encouraging and bringing hope to the customers and staff we interact with on a daily basis.
Expand…
- We should be expanding God’s Kingdom on earth through walking in integrity and humility as we bear his image. To live lives and conduct ourselves in a way that the world would look upon us and notice Christ in us – “the hope of glory”
- Our businesses and jobs (and our attitude towards them) should be a testimony to the goodness of God and we should conduct ourselves in a manner that continually seeks to glorify Him.
we have a focus area where
YOU can get involved!
To remain relevant and impactful, Faith at Work has established a number of key focus areas to best serve and impact the city. These range from Mentoring and Enterprise Development for both new and established businesses through to connecting job-seekers with potential employers and weekly Discipleship groups where the heart of the Gospel and how it impacts our marketplace is discussed.
MENTORSHIP & ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT: seeks to help new and established businesses thrive and grow.
EMPLOYERS & JOB-SEEKERS: connects the skill sets of the employed with employers needs.
NETWORKING & MARKETING: creates a forum for like-minded business people to share their products and services
WORK-INTERGRATED LEARNING: seeks to place unemployed individuals in host companies on short term internships
DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS: a place where the heart of the Gospel in the marketplace is discussed openly and honestly.
Can Business fulfil God’s purposes?
“I suspect that a profoundly negative attitude toward business in itself – not toward distortions and abuses, but toward business activity in itself – is ultimately a lie of the Enemy who wants to keep God’s people from fulfilling His purposes.
But what if Christians could change their attitudes towards business, and what if Christians could begin to change the attitudes of the world towards business?”
– Wayne Grudem (Business for the Glory of God)
DID YOU KNOW…
You were created to work!
“Work is not primarily a thing one does to live, but the thing one lives to do. It is, or it should be, the full expression of the worker’s faculties, the medium in which he offers himself to God.”
– Dorothy Sayers
